Reserve my entryThis is full admission to the Palamidi fortress — the eight self-contained bastions along the crest, the central bastion and chapel of Agios Andreas, the prison quarters linked to Kolokotronis, and the ramparts with their sweeping views over Nafplio, the Bourtzi islet and the Argolic Gulf. Who this is for
This is standard full admission, ideal for independent travellers who want to skip the on-the-day queue and have everything handled. The standard ticket needs no passport or name. The operator sets its own reduced and free categories (for example for children and certain EU visitors), which may require ID at the gate — contact our team if you think one applies to you. Note the Bourtzi islet fortress and the Acronauplia fortress in Nafplio are separate sites with their own access, not covered by this ticket.
On the day
Palamidi rises above Nafplio, about 140 km southwest of Athens — reachable by intercity KTEL bus or by car in around two to two and a half hours. From the old town you reach the fortress on foot up the monumental staircase (popularly the 999 steps) or by the road to the upper car park. Show your mobile ticket at the gate within your booked hour and walk the bastions, the chapel of Agios Andreas and the ramparts before the coaches arrive. It's an open, largely shadeless hilltop with steps, slopes and sheer drops, so bring a hat, sunscreen, water and sturdy shoes, take care near the edges, and allow about 1.5 to 2 hours plus the climb or drive up.
